Key — How to Read This Dashboard
Plain-English guide to every card
This page explains every card on the dashboard in everyday language — what each number means and how to use it to run the business. Everything updates based on the View Period you choose in the top-right corner; change it and every tab re-filters to that date range. Tap any section below to expand it.
Start Here — Core Concepts
View Period (top-right dropdown)
The date filter for the whole dashboard. Every metric reflects only business written/effective inside this window. Options: YTD, MTD, WTD, Daily, Rolling 13 Months, Previous Year, and each quarter (Q1–Q4).
How to use it: switch periods to compare the same metric over time (e.g., this year vs. last year). Pick “Rolling 13 Months” when you need persistency, since those metrics require more than a year of history.
Annualized Premium (AP)
The yearly premium a policy generates. If a client pays monthly, AP = monthly amount × 12. It puts every policy on a level playing field regardless of how often the client pays.
How to use it: this is your headline “how much business did we write” number for Life and Annuities.
Medicare = enrollments, not dollars
Medicare carriers pay a flat amount per enrollment, so Medicare is counted in heads (enrollments), never premium dollars. That’s why Medicare shows “1,861 enroll.” instead of a dollar figure.
How to use it: judge Medicare by enrollment volume and placement, not by AP.
Active / In-Force vs. Lapsed
“Active” or “In-Force” means the policy is alive and paying. “Lapsed / Terminated / Surrendered” means it’s no longer active.
How to use it: in-force counts show your living book; lapse-based metrics measure attrition.
The yellow “records outside period” banner
Tells you how many records the current View Period is hiding (e.g., older business excluded). It’s a heads-up, not an error.
How to use it: if a number looks unexpectedly low, widen the View Period.
Overview Tab
Total AP Written
Sum of annualized premium for all Life and Annuity business in the period.
How to use it: the single best gauge of how much new production the agency wrote.
Medicare Enrollments
Count of Medicare enrollments in the period.
How to use it: Medicare’s version of “production volume.”
Policies In Force
Number of currently-active policies across all lines.
How to use it: the size of your living book of business.
Avg AP / Policy
Average premium per Life/Annuity policy (Total AP ÷ those policies; Medicare is excluded since it has no premium).
How to use it: a “deal size” gauge — rising means bigger cases, falling means smaller ones.
Agent Retention
Percent of agents still actively producing over a rolling window.
How to use it: how sticky your sales force is; low retention means producers are leaking out the bottom.
Monthly AP Trend by Line
Premium written each month, stacked by product line (Life / Medicare / Annuities).
How to use it: spot momentum, seasonality, and which line is driving growth. (Medicare’s slice here is a rough dollar estimate, shown only so it’s visible on the chart.)
AP Mix
The premium split between Life and Annuities; Medicare appears as an enrollment count because it carries no premium.
How to use it: see how concentrated your production is in one product.
Sales by Line
A table of premium (or enrollments for Medicare), policy count, average size, and share for each product line.
How to use it: compare your product lines side by side.
Goal Attainment
Progress toward annual targets (targets get set in a future update).
How to use it: track pace against goal once goals are configured.
Leaderboard Tab
Life / Medicare toggle
Switches the whole tab between your Life book and your Medicare book. Life is measured in premium; Medicare in enrollments. The two are kept separate so each is judged on its own terms.
How to use it: review each product’s agents independently.
Active Agents
Agents who wrote business in the period for the selected product.
How to use it: how many producers are actually active right now.
Avg AP / Agent (Life) · Avg Enrollments / Agent (Medicare)
Average production per agent.
How to use it: per-head productivity; compare across periods or products.
Avg Policies / Agent (Life) · Avg Placed / Agent (Medicare)
Average policy count (or placed-enrollment count) per agent.
How to use it: are agents writing many small cases or a few large ones?
New Agents Recruited
Newly added agents (placeholder until recruiting data is wired in).
Monthly Agent Production Trend
How many agents were actively producing each month.
How to use it: is your active producer base growing or shrinking?
Agent Tier Distribution
Agents bucketed into Platinum / Gold / Silver / Bronze by production. Life tiers: Platinum ≥ $100k, Gold ≥ $50k, Silver ≥ $20k, Bronze under $20k AP. Medicare tiers: Platinum ≥ 100, Gold ≥ 50, Silver ≥ 20, Bronze under 20 enrollments.
How to use it: see the shape of your force — a few stars vs. many small producers.
Top Agent Leaderboard
Ranked list of top producers with tier, primary line, state, production, policies, and persistency. Search any agent by name.
How to use it: recognize top performers and spot who needs coaching.
Agent Search Tab (CEO only)
Single-agent scorecard
Type one agent’s name to see all the Leaderboard-style metrics for just that person, including their persistency cohorts.
How to use it: prep for a one-on-one or evaluate a single producer in depth.
Persistency Tab
12-Month Persistency
Of policies issued more than 12 months ago, the percent still active today. The industry-standard measure of whether business sticks — higher is healthier.
How to use it: the #1 quality-of-business metric. Needs more than a year of data, so view it under “Rolling 13 Months.”
13–24 Mo Persistency
The same idea for the second policy year; catches later lapses after first-year commissions are earned.
How to use it: see whether business holds up beyond year one.
Snapshot Active Rate
Of all policies in view, the percent active right now, with no time bound.
How to use it: a quick overall health check.
Lapse Rate
Percent of policies that lapsed = Lapsed ÷ (Active + Lapsed). The mirror image of persistency.
How to use it: track attrition; rising lapse rate is an early warning.
AP at Risk
Annualized premium tied to policies 61–90 days behind on payment — money about to lapse unless it’s saved.
How to use it: aim retention/save calls at this bucket.
12-Month Persistency Trend by Line
Persistency over time, broken out by product.
How to use it: catch a product or carrier whose quality is slipping.
Lapse Reasons
Breakdown of why policies lapsed (non-payment, terminated, surrendered, etc.).
How to use it: diagnose the root cause of attrition.
Geographic Tab
States with Policies
Number of states where you have business.
How to use it: the breadth of your footprint.
Top State
Your highest-premium state.
How to use it: know your stronghold.
Fastest Growing

Carrier Tab
Active Carriers
How many insurance carriers you’re placing business with.
How to use it: the breadth of your carrier relationships.
Top Carrier Share

AP by Carrier
Production ranked by carrier.
How to use it: see who your biggest partners are.
Concentration Risk
How production is spread across all carriers.
How to use it: a balanced spread lowers business risk; one dominant carrier raises it.

Commission Revenue
Gross commissions and overrides the agency earned, from uploaded commission files.
How to use it: your top-line revenue.
Chargebacks
Commission reversals that happen when policies lapse early.
How to use it: the direct cost of poor persistency.

Life Insurance
Your Life book only: AP written, policies, and persistency for Life products.
Medicare
Placement = the percent of enrollments that went effective. Persistency = the percent of placed enrollments still active. Rapid Disenroll = cancelled within 90 days (only where the carrier provides a termination date). The breakdown chart shows every enrollment outcome (active, disenrolled, not placed, etc.).
How to use it: judge Medicare on placement and retention, not dollars.
Annuities
Annuity production and in-force business.
